Town of Darien, CT : Part-Time Public Health Nurse

Location: 2 Renshaw Road, Darien, CT
Hours: Part-time, 12-15 hours per week. Flexible schedule during normal business hours, between 8:00 a.m. – 5:15 p.m., M-Th
Compensation: $40.00 to $48.00 per hour, DOE
Closing Date: April 4, 2025
Job Summary: This class is accountable for providing public health nursing services and assessing the health needs of the community as directed by the Director of Health.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor of Science in Nursing and graduation from an accredited nursing program. Incumbents in this class must possess and retain a license as a CT Registered Professional Nurse in Connecticut.

Examples of Essential Duties:
-Performs reportable disease surveillance, follow ups, contact investigation, and case management
-Communicates directly with the State of Connecticut Department of Public Health when investigating and following up on communicable diseases;
-Assists with epidemiological investigations including food borne and institutional outbreaks;
-Plans, implements, and conducts (public) health screenings, or vaccination programs with the medical advisor, other providers, and community organizations in Darien as needed;
-Identifies at-risk groups and works with organizations that serve vulnerable populations;
-Organizes targeted health promotion education programs for the public and professionals;
